Counterpoint (PDF)

When there is more than one independent melody line occurring at the same time within a piece of music it is contrapuntal, or the piece is utilizing counterpoint.

The Counterpoint hat is worked from the bottom up to the crown decreases. We begin with a long ribbing into which a brim will later be placed. There is no shaping done within the knitting to accommodate the plastic canvas brim. Instead we will take advantage of the natural stretch of the knitted ribbing. The plastic canvas simply stretches the stitches into shape as required.

The top of this hat is shaped as a classic beanie, however, you could easily repeat the Melody Line section for your size another once or twice to create a slouch-style cap.
