Description
This shawlette is named for a goddess that everyone is probably familiar with. We call her Aphrodite in Greek Myth and Venus in Roman Mythology. She is the goddess of love and beauty. Her lovers span other major Gods and mortals alike. The story of her birth varies. In one version she was hatched from an egg, another says she was born from the union of Zeus (Jupiter) and Dione, an earth-mother goddess. The most common telling claims she was born from the foam from the severed genitals of Ouranos (aka Uranus). Whatever this Goddess’s beginnings were, there is no doubt that she was one of the most important and most worshipped deities in Greek and Roman Mythology.
